Prodrill walks over 12,000km in Global Corporate Challenge health initiative
Prodrill recently joined the world’s largest corporate health initiative, Global Corporate Challenge, as employees were set the challenge to engage in a virtual walk around the world over 16 weeks to promote health and wellbeing in the workplace.
Throughout the challenge, which ran from May to September, Prodrill formed two teams of seven employees - The Panthers and The Jaguars. Each team were given two pedometers which logged every step taken throughout the day and logged this into the Global Corporate Challenge website.
Lee Clark, Operations Manager at Prodrill comments, “We wanted to take part in a health initiative which was also a bit of fun. By having two teams, it encouraged a bit of friendly competition, with each team trying to rack up more steps a day than the other. At the end of it we were really surprised to find that we managed to total an impressive 18,919,791 steps between the 14 of us which worked out at a colossal 12,109km. The Jaguars beat The Panthers in the end, but well done to everyone involved in the challenge - a great effort by all.”
Throughout the challenge, Prodrill was given virtual updates on their team progress including facts, history, foods, politics and geography of each country they reached. Each week 20 people were chosen at random to receive a free iPod Shuffle and Prodrill managed to pick up two, with one being awarded to Mike Macdonald and one to Aileen Cowie.
Prodrill joined 18,152 other teams from around the world and finished in a respectable 6,211th place.
