Lead Production Chemist

Leading international oil and gas producer require a Lead Production Chemist for an initial 12 month assignment based here in Aberdeen. Lead Production Chemist Role Overview Provision and management of Production Chemistry technical support to the UKBU operated assets and projects as required. This is a specialist position and as such the provision of support to other business units will form part of this role. This Lead role is responsible for the management of all Production Chemistry related matters relating to UKBU operations ensuring legislative requirements are met at all times. Key Accountabilities Direct management of all Production Chemistry related matters for field development and production operations across the UKBU and other BUs as required Responsible for management and guidance on Scale, Separation, Asphaltenes, Wax, Calcium Naphthenate, Gas and Oil Contaminants and all other Production Chemical risks including collation of associated procedures, strategies and guidelines Mentoring, support and management of other company Production Chemist and Chemical supply contract Account Managers Onshore Production Chemistry support and troubleshooting – provide specific advice and guidance to appropriate onshore disciplines and offshore personnel Management of offshore Production Chemical applications including monitoring, optimisation and reporting ensuring execution in a safe and efficient manner Coordination and management of offshore and onshore laboratory sampling and analysis including monitoring, trending and reporting Support to Environmental Department on chemical, OIW discharge and EU ETS permits including direct responsibility for training, sampling and reporting Regulatory compliance for gas export and export pipeline entry Proved support to marketing team with particular emphasis on trader crude assays and crude oil contaminants Key contract and CAPEX/OPEX budget management Major Challenges Bringing awareness of Production Chemistry risks to all asset discipline teams to emphasise criticality to asset performance Ensuring clear and efficient communication within the UKBU across multiple assets Significant and multiple Production Chemical risks across all UKBU Assets and Developments Managing conflicting priorities in a high workload environment for all UKBU operated and leased assets including projects Lead Production Chemist role has to be technically self-sufficient and have good contacts within the company and industry Sufficient experience to mentor and support in all Production Chemistry related areas Financial Accountability and Dimensions Management of Asset Production Chemical budgets Management Relationships (include direct / indirect reports, external parties) Direct reports (internal employees / external parties): Chemical supply contract Account Managers Indirect (internal employees / external parties): Production Chemist – Operated Asset Group (OAG) Reporting functionally to the Subsurface Manager and the Group Petroleum Engineer in London Qualifications Degree in relevant discipline BOSIET/FOET/MIST and valid offshore medical certificate Candidate Profile (include Skills & Experience, Attributes, Behaviours) Skills / experience: Solid and extensive experience of working in a similar role in the upstream oil & gas industry preferable with an Operator Extensive knowledge of all key Production Chemical and Flow Assurance risks Experience in field development and commissioning Management and mentoring of other Production Chemists and relevant support roles Proficient in Technical authorship of Production Chemical documentation including procedures and detailed technical notes Preparation and deliverance of technical presentations to project teams and steering of internal meetings Knowledge (e.g. systems, software, procedures, regulations): Skillful knowledge of the discipline core tools such as ScaleChem and Multiflash beneficial Detailed knowledge of Production Chemistry related Environmental permitry compliance under BEIS (chemical use and discharge, produced water discharge) and EU ETS Attributes and behaviours: Possess technical credibility in order to successfully influence peers, supervisors, BU management and external third parties Highly motivated, goal orientated professional Clear communicator able to articulate risks and requirements for complex scenarios To apply for this role please send your CV to prodrill.cv@prodrill-ers.com
