Senior Well Intervention Engineer

Our client an Oil & Gas Operator are looking for an experienced Well Intervention Engineer to be based here in Aberdeen on a contract basis. THE ROLE Prepares for and executes platform and subsea well interventions and well maintenance safely and efficiently in accordance with detailed design requirements and company objectives, policies and procedures, whilst complying with legislation and good oilfield practice. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Well Intervention Planning Creates a Well Intervention or well maintenance (including Wellheads and Xmas Trees) programme in compliance with the Management System by reviewing or creating design documents, evaluating design options, assessing risk, preparing detailed work procedures, preparing Examination, notification and consent applications, preparing time and cost estimates, procuring services, equipment and materials, preparing logistics plans and coordinating suppliers and service providers to meet the work objectives. Keeps up to date with technology development and reviews completion philosophies to ensure technology developments are incorporated where appropriate. Operations Support Implements work programmes by providing onshore co-ordination and management of offshore well intervention activities in compliance with the management system, ensuring vendor activities are conducted safely and efficiently. Commercial Support Provides technical and commercial support for procurement and tender evaluation processes, with subsequent support for the commercial contract drafting. Takes a lead role in the development of highly effective relationships with vendors and suppliers. End of Well Reporting Creates reports for company and legislative bodies by compiling operations information and performance analysis to provide an as-installed record of events and well components. Leads post operations meetings and close out non-conformance reports. Lessons Learned Records lessons learned by analysing performance and comparing the observed result against the plan to provide learning for the organization for future operations. QHSE Complies with, and assists team members to comply with, the company Management System. Makes recommendations for improvements to the Management System. QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING Essential HNC/ONC or equivalent in an Engineering discipline Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority for well servicing activities e.g. IWCF, WELLCAP to Supervisor level. Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical and MIST Preferred EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Essential Considerable experience of well intervention planning and supervision Sound knowledge of the HSE regime governing well intervention operations Good knowledge of technological developments, industry initiatives, etc. Proven relationship-builder – internally and externally Preferred Experience of working in an Operator environment and in mature assets Required to perform offshore supervisory roles Required to take part in out of hours duty rota covering technical and emergency response INTERNAL INTERACTIONS Wells and Development Engineering teams Contracts team HSSEQ team Drilling accounting team members Platform operations teams onshore and offshore EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS Well Examiner DECC HSE Oil & Gas UK / Industry peers
