Wells Cost Controller

Reporting to the Cost, Planning & Finance Manager, the Wells Cost Controller is responsible for the cost management and reporting of wells, well integrity & rig maintenance for a decommissioning project, with the potential for the remit to extend to other future projects. Covers cost control, management and reporting of Well Decommissioning (Plugging & Abandonment) costs for the Project and Joint Venture. There is the potential for the candidate to provide cost estimation support to other future projects as these are awarded. Accountabilities and Responsibilities: Budgets • Prepare annual and project budgets in line with the agreed decommissioning plans • Prepare budget book with detailed assumptions documented Forecasting • Prepare cost re-forecasts each quarter in line with updated decommissioning plans in consultation with the budget holders • Prepare summary of key changes from original budget and previous forecasts • Run scenarios as directed by management to assess options and impacts with respect to costs from changes in scope or execution • Challenge the assumptions and information provided for preparation of budgets & forecast Cost Control & Tracking • Ensure that all of the commitments are accurately and correctly reported, including checks for purchase requisitions and invoice approvals • Ensure cost tracking report reflects those reported in the accounting system • Report any costs incurred without commitment • Support the development and implementation of a cost control culture with the Asset • Develop appropriate Cost Breakdown Structures to support decommissioning requirements • Identify areas for cost efficiency and reduction • Utilise cost tracker in reviewing invoices to identify invoice errors Monthly Reporting • Provide Value of Work done for each cost category in line with the monthly accounting timetable • Prepare/support monthly cost report highlighting variations from budget and revised forecasts Close Out Reporting • Prepare end of well reconciliations in line with industry best practice • Prepare Wells Cost Close-out reports • Prepare lessons learnt on wells cost management
